Born and raised minutes from Green Bay, I have always been a green and gold fan. I remember going to games during years that it appeared less than 5000 people where in the stadium. With this in mind, life finally brought the early 90s, with that came Ron Wolf, then Holmgren, and of course Brett Favre.
Now I admit, when Favre first started I was one of many who thought, get rid of this guy. While Holmgren and Wolf had an amazing amount of faith in Favre, Brett eventually started making things happen. And finally he brought glory to an already storied franchise and the world seemed happy.
Here comes my problem. Call me greedy, selfish, whatever you would like, however I AM a sports fan and if it could happen I would want my teams to be champions every year. When all of the sudden Brett lost some great players around any one who knows the game of football learned that, although Brett was the main gear running this engine, he could not have done what he has with out many of the player AND coaches that were here when the Packers were winning.
Bring in Mike Sherman, probably the single most riduculous move the organization has done, bring in an unproven coach and make him GM as well. Well, besides the fact that he was seemed clueless, he let Favre think he was bigger than the team. Never once getting in his face and coaching him. Sherman might have had a similar or more talented team when he first came in as the Super Bowl team, and in a matter of years he turned them into the 80s teams again. 4-12, are you kidding??
Now comes McCarthy, I admit, I was kind of hoping they would hire Peyton, but after the first time I heard Mike McCarthy speak as the head coach of the Green Bay Packers I instatnly liked this guy. I liked him more and more when he brought in this no body is bigger than the organization, nobody is perfect and everyone can learn something new everyday attitude.
I finish with this. Yes we SHOULD thank Brett Favre for his years worth of service. But since when did fans starting following players and not teams. When did the packers turn into the Favres. We are seeing Brett Favre right play the way he always has, maybe a little slower due to age, but with the gunslinger mentality and not many players around him to make the plays that have always been made for him. If anyone really thinks that Brett Favre is having an off year since he is on pace for 25 INTs, see under records for most INTs in career, guess who is number 1.
I am sick of listening to our local radio stations talk about Brett Favre non-stop. He chose thihs path he is on right now, and I personally think the Packer organization did the right thing this off-season, sure they could have done some things a little different, but oh well.
And for those of you saying, "stop picking on Brett," serious, get a clue. Brett has made his choices and he continues to, nobody tells him what to do and what to say, he does that all on his own.
Brett Favre, thank you for what you have given the Green Bay Packer organization and good luck in your future, I don't want you to think I have respected what you have done. I am just ready to move on and start a new tradition of excellence, and being a true fan I will stick with the front office and coaching staff the Packers have and support them all the way, they seem to be doing a pretty good job so far.

if i was a packer fan i'd probably think just about all of the above (except the fact that you wanted sean payton--being a giants fan i've seen him up close and i don't know that he's really a head coach right now).
BUT, i'd still be pissed ass heck that brett favre was quarterbacking another team, when he wanted to quarterback my packers. it would be like (for me) watching phil simms qb the bucs, or something. it wouldn't sit right with me and i'd be unhappy that management didn't just shove everything under the rug and bring him back for as long as he wanted to play. that said, it's been fun watching him on the jets this year. Ya gotta look at this throught Bretts eyes.
There once was a wr named Moss, who played for the silver and black. He bacame a free agent and Brett, knowing he only had a few yrs left to make another title run, BEGGED the Green Bay office to go get him. He offered to take a PAY CUT if they would go get him. A year later Moss had broken all kinds of records. Then yet again, Moss was a free agent, able to sign with anyone, and once again his team brass didnt go get him. Let me ask you, if you were an accountant, and your bosses wouldnt buy you a new computer to make THEM money would you find someone who would spend a little money to make the whole TEAM better, and things easier on you? I dont blame Brett one bit. As a matter of fact the blame rest SOLELY on the organization. Bottom line, take care of the people who take care of you or you may find yourself all alone. Oh and I started following players over teams when I was introduced to fantasy football in 1990 :P Chuck PFL 2007-2008 Champ

If I have a computer that's working well (his WRs & team chemistry) and I was offered a new computer program that can either increase my production 10% or it can easily crash (Minn & Oak years) and scr*w me, I'll go with the program that's working. Yes it worked out well for him last year in NE but it doesn't mean it would have worked the same way in GB. Moss had a track record of not playing and causing trouble in the last 2 places he was at the time of his FA. Moss was a very very high risk player and GB did have some very productive WRs & TE last year. btw, what has Moss done this year? is he still busting his *ss or has he slacked off a bit without Brady? Farve made his choice and so did the Packers...so good luck to both. I'm Going Madd with these changes.

To be honest, Moss didn't want to come to GB to begin with, so it didn't matter what they offered him. Let me remind you that in 07 GB had THE most productive and consistant WRs as any team, including NE. Randy Moss would never have come to GB, and if he did he would have been the same guy you saw in OAK.
That aside, you cannot blame anything on the organization, outside of going into free agency and getting say, Jared Allen, or Tony Gonzales when they had the chance. Look and see what player has made a difference in free agency and you will notice that very few if any has made a difference for their team. Personally I feel that THE ORGANIZATION made the right move with Favre. Yeah they have made mistakes in other aspects of the team, however how many of the games this year could have been won if the defense did their job. Most people want to shoot Rodgers for not winning the game when it counts, yet GB is the 5th highest on scoring per game. In Favre's first 5 years he won 10% of the games when losing with 5 minutes left in the game. He has only won 18% of his games when losing on the last drive. Sure, maybe Rodgers hasn't done that well in the last couple minutes this year, but let's be realistic, if the D plays any kind of quality D they win 3-5 more games this year. That tells me they are good enough for the playoffs. You can spin it any way you want, and yes I love Brett for what he did for the Packers, however you live and die by him. He has won as many games as he has lost. Take the playoffs in 07, he didn't help the Packers in any way in the championship game at Lambeau, not to mention that his INT in OT was typical Brett, let's just throw it up. Like I said, argue all you want, I love Brett for what he did, I do not respect him for his shenanigans with retiring, he was not a team player the last 3-4 years, and he made a mockery(not sure on the spelling) of the organization and I may disagree with some things the organization has done, but I agree with moving forward with Aaron Rodgers and trading Favre. Just my opinion, My first Packer game was against the "SuperChargers" in 1980, and the packers were awful, it was only a matter of time until they turned it around. QB-A.Rogers
