Over the past year and a half, we felt that something was missing at www.FantasyFootball.com: Games. So, many of the smart guys around here decided to put together the hottest fantasy game on the internet: www.TheBigTourney.com. Hopefully by now you have already had a chance to check out the Big Tourney and you are familiar with how it works. It is really quite simple and it covers every type of game you want from instant cash games, satellite tourneys, and main event tourneys, which is the grand prize of this game. You can buy in directly to the Main Event or qualify through the satellite tourneys. The bottom line is that the NFL Main Event will pay out $243,000 this season and the 1st place winner will win $120,000. It is possible that the grand prize winner will enter for $1 and win $120,000. Wow! That is what I call maximizing a profit.

The great thing about this game is you can play NASCAR, baseball, football, and, soon, we will be adding basketball. For the past two months the big tourney has been going strong and we have already had several winners. Let’s take a look.

Instant Cash Winners:
-RedHot Pork Rinds entered the NASCAR instant cash game for $6.25 and won $25. Team Fitxgerald won 2nd place and $15 and Team quazi finished 3rd and won $10. Three out of ten are winners in the instant cash games. http://games.fantasyplanet.com/tourneys/30

-Team Fitxgerald also was a winner in a MLB game that was a $6.25 entry and paid him $25. http://games.fantasyplanet.com/tourneys/44

-Team Fitxgerald also won the ‘Beat Craig Davis’ instant cash game where Craig Davis actually finished in 8th place. I’m sure he set it up where others could win . . . yeah right. http://games.fantasyplanet.com/tourneys/48

Freeroll Winner:
-Roundy Round was the winner of this NASCAR freeroll. Cost Roundy Round $0 to enter and he won $20. http://games.fantasyplanet.com/tourneys/41

These are just a few examples of the prizes being won at www.TheBigTourney.com. We also have mock tourneys if you want to just try it out beforehand, so you’ll feel more comfortable laying down some cash.

Now, here is the section of this article that I enjoy the most. Every game is based on salaries for each player and I want to point out a few sleepers in the contest that might just help you become a big winner. Your team has to stay under the $10 million budget, so managing your salaries is of the utmost importance. Let’s take a look at Week 1 and who I think is a bargain.

QB Kurt Warner is one of the cheapest QBs on the market at $504,000 and it won’t stay that way long as he lights up the 49ers this weekend. Keep in mind, these salaries were created before Warner was named starter, so grab him cheap while you can. One more - Matt Ryan $500,000 against a poor Lions defense.

RBKevin Smith for $660,000 is a steal when he is playing the porous Falcons defense this week. Rudi Johnson doesn’t scare me since he is still looking for his duffel bag instead of learning the playbook. Honorable Mention – Ricky Williams at $500,000 is another case of low salary set before he was promoted. Jump on him as he gets the majority of the carries this week against the Jets.

WRMuhsin Muhammad is the WR1 for the Panthers for the first two weeks while Steve Smith is suspended. He should get plenty of looks and at $580,000 is a bargain in this contest. Honorable Mention – Nate Burleson at $735,000 is a good deal as he is the WR1 for the Seahawks and the Sleeper of the Year according Craig Davis.

TE – At $554,000, Ben Utecht has great value in an offense that is uncertain right now because of injuries. We expect the ball to go to TJ Houshmandzadeh and Chad Johnson, which should leave the middle of the field open for Utecht and hopefully the end zone.

I could go on forever analyzing the good deals. The bottom line is that you will have to find a strategy that works for you. You will likely need a few studs that cost money like Marion Barber at $1,170,000, but you will also need a few sleeper guys to come up big if you want to win. I will be back next week with Week 1 results as the game continues. Hopefully I am writing about you next week as you win one of the weekly contests or have advanced to the next round. Good Luck in Week 1.
